Declare your independence from dirty energy!

June 27- July 4

The week before the nation’s Independence Day, members of Energy Action Coalition will declare independence from dirty energy, and directly call on President Obama and Congress to lead us towards strong climate and energy legislation.  Youth from around the country will be hosting actions and events in their communities and their District offices all over the country to hold this administration accountable!

Plans are still evolving, but you can find out more here:

Hi Climate Champions!

Want a (FREE) chance to hone your organizing skills and lobby congress this summer?

The Campus Progress National Conference, on July 8th in Washington D.C., will bring together 1,000 young progressives to make a difference on the most pressing issues of our generation. Will you join us?

Apply now at: campusprogress.org/2009conferenceapp<http://capweb.democracyinaction.org/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=39Xi1%2B%2Bmk2UjlproW6a1HlKv3zfoviXn>

The National Conference will be preceded by a Grassroots Training Day we’re running with Campus Camp Wellstone to give you access to great trainings and help you become a more effective organizer in your community.

You don’t think we’d take you to Washington D.C. without giving you a chance to voice your concern to your congresspeople! On 9th, 200 conference participants will be joined by the Energy Action Coalition for a Lobby Day to advocate for bold climate action to set us on the road to Copenhagen.

Space is limited for the Grassroots Training Day and for the Lobby Day, apply now<http://www.campusprogress.org/2009conferenceapp> to make sure you can attend!

Don’t put off applying – our Journalism in Action Day is already full and the Grassroots Training Day isn’t far behind.

Cheers,

Tommaso Nicolas Boggia

Calling all youth activists, organizers, and leaders:

Mother Jones, Campus Progress, and WireTap proudly present the Hellraisers, our first annual student activism awards. We’ll honor the year’s most noteworthy student campaigns, initiatives, protests, and other creative feats of activism.

Here’s how it works: You tell us about your favorite activism antics—and selected nominees will be featured in the September/October 2009 issue of Mother Jones. Anyone can nominate, and self-nominations are allowed. Student activists of any age (not just college) are eligible. And unusual entries are encouraged: Most tweetable? Best soundtrack? Be creative!

So if you or someone you know has stirred it up MoJo style this past school year (between June 1, 2008, and June 30, 2009), just let us know by June 10th, 9am PST.

Nominating through our easy online form takes about five minutes. Do it here: http://www.motherjones.com/campus/2009

Good luck!

That’s all for now.  Happy summer!
